A total of 30 representatives of 11 Japanese startup companies participated in the “Make it in the Emirates Forum,” which was held in the UAE from May 31 to June 1, 2023. The “Make it in the Emirates Forum” is hosted by the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Industry & Advanced Technology (MoIAT), in conjunction with the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) and the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC).
Through the Japan-UAE Coordination scheme for Advanced Technology (JU-CAT), support is provided to Japanese startups participating in this event, along with support in establishing local business in the UAE.

Outline of the Make it in the Emirates Forum

This event directly supports the UAE’s economic diversification strategies and efforts to enhance the competitiveness of domestic industry. Now in its second year, this annual Forum is one of the most important industrial events in this region, and is held to gather major companies from around the world along with financial institutions, SMEs, governments, and investors; explore investment opportunities; and boost local content.
The first Forum, held in 2022, welcomed more than 1,300 participants, including representatives of major domestic corporations, manufacturers, and investors. It featured presentations by more than 20 CEOs of major industrial companies and representatives of both the public and private sectors. It was confirmed that 300 new products will be produced locally through transactions with major UAE companies, and potential procurement contracts have a total value of 110 billion AED. When opportunities are created for new business or production in the UAE, participants can enjoy support in the form of financing partners, land prospects, and legal advice.
